Looking for Work

The silver dragon, covered in ash landed near a sandstone statue resembling herself and rushed the people into the tower, causing confusion and the lobby to quickly be crowded. What just happened? Was there a fight on the border?

Shuri sighed. "Somethings happening... Right?" She asked, figuring the answer was yes. Please don't let it be yes. Enough had already happened today..

Asher nodded and asked a passing man what was going on. "Mount Pitfall just caused some poison gas to blow this way, Ms. Neia said to stay in the shelters." He replied and shuffled a small girl further into the building. The albino irritatedly blew a puff of air out of his chest and huddled down. "I just got comfortable.."

"Do we have to go then..?" She sighed, still not wanting to get up. "Would the poison gas affect us here, or do we have to go deeper in? I really don't wanna get poisoned by breathing." She shrunk down a bit next to him, still trying to stay close.

Asher wrapped his tail around himself, like a hug. "I don't think so, but I'll have to ask the Dragons." He muttered as the crowd thinned and sirens began to blare in the distance. People on stretchers, no doubt from Pitfall, were being rushed passed and into the lower floors of the tower. "An alpha too?" The naga hummed and waited for Neia or Aien to pass so he could question them.

"So all we can do is wait for dragons.." She sighed. "Alright." She looked up at the ceiling, not daring to go anywhere without a guide for the rest of the day. She sank down a bit more, tucking her head into her chest. "Today's kinda sucked for me.. What about you, Asher?" Might as well idly converse.

Asher shook his head. "Not really, but it wasn't particularly enjoyable either." He mumbled and wondered if there was any coffee inside... it had been maybe an hour since his last cup.

"Why?" She asked, trying to keep him talking. She wondered when those dragons would come by.

Asher hissed slightly. "As you have probably already seen, Majehns are assholes." Snow was not a kind element.

"Eh.. True enough." She ran out of topics already, so she just sat there quietly, staring at the wall. She slid down a bit more, stretching her legs out in front of herself.

Neia eventually came in and grabbed Asher's tail, pulling the naga and Shuri along. Asher asked her what was going on, and she answered after letting him go further into the building. "Child, Pitfall has erupted and it is too dangerous out there. you must stay in here as you are small."

Shuri quietly sat there, watching Neia. "That answers that question then." She murmured.

Asher huffed. He didn't like it when people moved him by his tail. He sat up and asked the dragon another question. "Is PC okay?" Neia nodded. "There were only a few fires, but yes, Pitfall City will be running again as soon as the ash clears."

Shuri just sat there quietly, watching the two of them. Show the dragon respect, She thought. Probably, angering one would mean her being killed or punished or something to that degree.

Again the naga huffed. Over the intercom a voice came out, saying that there was going to be a fight at the pit, then it was interrupted saying that there would be two. "Really? During an emergency like this they're going to the fighting rings?" Asher mummbled under his breath, to which the dragon of the moon laughed. "You know this already child, Majehns are wild and chaotic beings. I shall go as well." She began to walk out the door again and into the ashes, it was still safe from the poison gas for the time being.

"I wonder who's fighting who.." She wondered aloud. "Some omnias probably," she said, answering her own question. "So everyone here is stuck until someone says it's safe to come out?"

Asher nodded. "Probably." He tried to think of a way to word his next sentence. "We could go the the pit, the ashes must not be blowing that way if people are heading there. Er... the only thing is uh... the pits are fights to the vacation(s)."

"Yeah, I know. It doesn't matter to me. I was given a ticket for the pit, but I left it on the ground. I think it was to fight." She shrugged, thinking if she should have kept it or not. Well she could probably get another one sometime if she wanted to. She probably wouldn't.

Asher nodded quickly. "If you're given a ticket there it is to fight, otherwise people get in free. Let's go, we don't want to be ashed in." He unwrapped his tail from around he sat up, glancing at the door as buses and squad cars pulled up to the tower.

She stood up, looking at the busses and cars. "They'll let us out, right? Not block us in?" She rolled her shoulders and cracked her neck since she had started to become stiff.

Asher nodded, noticing people get on them. "we should go before they're all full." He grabbed her wrist and slithered over to a bus, getting inside with Shuri and claiming two seats for them.

Barely getting out an "alright," before the naga had started for the bus, she tried to keep pace with him as they got on the bus and sat down. "This is going to the pit?" She asked him, resting her elbows on her knees, looking over at him, her hair sliding away from its stationary point from her head being at an angle. She had forgotten about her scar and when the damaged eye had added a blurry image of Asher as opposed to the normal blue curtain it normally observed she moved her head to an upright position to hide it again.

Asher saw the scar, but didn't mind it. "It'll take us close, we'll have to sl- walk a few hundred feet to get the rest of the way. The pit is in the empty magma chamber of a dead volcano, we have to go up a ways before going back down and in." Asher explained thoughtfully and leaned against the window as the bus lurched forward.

"Alright." She leaned back on the seat for a bit, then quietly asked, "You were about to say slither, right? Why did you stop yourself?" She genuinely wondered this, not knowing if she was making him uncomfortable with something. Normally she would be able to tell, but since she had met him not too long ago she had no idea.

Asher patted his tail for a moment. "Because you have legs and I don't." The bus continued it's journey forward, much faster than the buses usually would go. Eventually it made it's way up the mountainside and a steep incline. Over the intercom information about the pits played.

She shrugged slightly and continued to stare at the ceiling. After a while she sneaked a glance at the albino, staring at his tattoo. She liked the way it looked on his arm.

Asher noticed her looking at his tattoo, he always did. The bright orange ink constrasted his pale pinkish skin. It was another thing he didn't mind, not after the years of having it. It usually brought interesting questions from interesting people, others experianced with tattooes could tell the dots were much older than the swirl.

She had wanted to trace the pattern, but didn't dare touch his arm. She hadn't noticed that he noticed her, and she had quietly started tracing what she saw on her own leg. "That's an interesting pattern," she quietly peeped, seeming a lot more shy with her tone. Around him, she didn't want to be loud.

Asher smiled lightly. "Thank you, It's two separate ones, actually. The swirl is a lot newer than the dots." He looked down at his shoulder and pointed to two different spots, one of the dots and a part of the bright orange swirl. Now he began to spin a little lie, but there was much truth within it. "The dots are actually uh well, part of a constilation, the sky patterns with the stars? The swirl was added later." Which part was truth and which part was a lie was only known to the naga, because any part of that could have been true at the time he had gotten the tattoos.

"Was it painful?" she had asked, stopping herself from mimicking the pattern with her finger. "What constellation? Does the swirl mean anything?" She sat on her hands, cracking her neck.
